What Human food can dogs eat?
Fruit
Pumpkin – They are good sources of fiber but also a good beta-carotene/vitamin A, this can help with your digestive issues and keep the gastrointestinal tract moving. We would not recommend feeding your dog raw pumpkin, but canned pumpkin is a great source for your dog’s health. Please make sure you do not buy pumpkin pie filler as this can contain sugars and spices.
Apple Slices – Apple slices will help with your dog’s teeth residue, along with freshening their breath. Apples are great for fiber, Vitamin A and C. You must make sure to take out the core and the seeds before feeding your dog an apple. As these can be a choking hazard and worse for your dog’s health. The apple seeds can be a problem for your dog’s health.
Vegetables
Carrots – Carrots are great for your dogs’ teeth; they have low calories and a high fiber diet, along with carotene/Vitamin A. You are best giving your dog a small portion of a carrot, as feeding your dog a full carrots all the time, will not be good for their health, mainly obesity.
Green Beans – They surprisingly make a tasty treat for your dog since they can be quite filling and be low calorie. You should select beans that have no added salt.
Meat
Cooked Chicken – Cooked chicken is a great way to add extra food to your dog’s meal if you are struggling to feed your dog. Cooked chicken gives extra protein that is great for their diet. Which is a great way to add a little treat for your dog while feeding them their usual dog food.
Dairy
Eggs – Scrambling an egg up for your pup or dog is a great way to help your dog’s diet, which will boost their protein. Eggs are a great source when it comes to easily digestible riboflavin and selenium, which makes a great healthy dog.
Yogurts – They have high protein and calcium. As always please make sure only to pick yogurts that do not include any artificial sweeteners or added sugars.
This will usually include any “lite” yogurts. Finding yogurts with active bacteria can be a good thing for your dogs’ digestive system. The probiotic yogurts are one of the things that help with this.
Also please do not pick any yogurts that have any chocolate flavors in it, as dogs cannot eat chocolate. A common yogurt is plain greek yogurt, you should not be giving your dog anything fancy.
We would recommend asking your vet which yogurt they think is best for your dog.
Cheese – This is an excellent treat for dogs, especially when training as long as you do not feed them to much of it. Another thing you need to make sure is that your dog’s not lactose intolerant. We would recommend keeping an eye on your dog’s reaction when feeding them some cheese.
I would recommend opting for reduced-fat or low-fat varieties of cheese; this will help with obesity and overfeeding. A lot of cheese can be high in fat.
Other
Salmon – Salmon is a great source for omega 3. This will help keep your dog’s coat healthy and shiny, along with improving your dog’s immune system. You can add salmon oil to their food bowl or slip them some unwanted fish skins. This is another food option along with the obvious, cooked salmon.
Peanut butter – Probably the number one treat for a canine. Peanut butter is a good source of protein for your dog, but it can also contain vitamin B, vitamin E, Niacin, and healthy fats. The best way to feed your dog with peanut butter is, to buy a kong toy. Kong toys are great for keeping your dog busy for hours. Please, only use raw peanut butter which is also unsalted.
PLEASE NOTE: You must be 100% sure that you are not feeding your dog sugar-free or “lite” peanut butter. These types of peanut butters will have sweeteners in it, which is Xylitol, this substance is deadly to dogs, which must always be avoided.
Oatmeal – This can be an excellent source for your dog regarding there fiber. If your dog is a senior dog, it is also a great for their bowel irregularity issues if they have any. If your dog is allergic to wheat, it is also great treat for them, if you wish to serve it to your dog. Please do not add any flavor additives or sugar.
